I’ve been amazed by the quality of the build blogs. The manual to build the car is ‘OK’, but even Caterham will point out that you can’t just rely on the manual alone. I’ve been thinking about buying the kit for a couple of years now, and seriously for about the last year. In that time I’ve read through plenty of blogs – below I have linked to the ones that I have read :
Assembly Guides:
I will be following the new Assembly Guide version 1.2 (June 2019) as my primary manual.
As backup and for cross referencing I will use the old Caterham Assembly Guide Version 02.2015.c. This is substantial at 220 pages with plenty of text which is helpful for me given zero experience with Caterhams. However it is old (Feb 2015) and if the new manual differs, I will follow new manual.
Finally I will be referring to the Caterham IVA checklist (2 Jan 2016 version).
It´s worth noting that the parts and fittings on the Caterham are constantly changing which is one reason why the manuals can go out of date fairly quickly. Even on my build in 2019/2020 I am finding fittings different to what is specified in the latest build manual, for example on the uprights. It´s very normal to have to do detective work using the various blogs to work out what you are doing. If you blindly follow the build manual you may end up getting confused at certain points.
